Obituary of Quintin H. Weaver

Quintin Hubert (Quint) Weaver, age 89, of Voorheesville, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 18, 2023 in Delmar, NY, from complications of pneumonia. Quintin was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. His work ethic, integrity, gentleness, generosity and his passion for life, friends and family, made him a joy to be around.

Quintin Weaver was born to Randolph Maxwell Weaver and Madalene Eleanor Shippy Weaver on June 28, 1934 in Hudson Falls, NY. He graduated from Hudson Falls high school in 1952, He earned an associate's degree from NYS University at Delhi in 1954, then served in the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1956. He married his fiancé Agnes Hall in 1956 in Treadwell, NY, then went on to earn a bachelor's degree at Syracuse University in 1959. 

Quintin designed and built their home in Voorheesville in 1962 and lived there for the rest of his life. During his career he was an owner and manager of two construction companies, contracting for both large commercial jobs and smaller house additions and repairs. He still found the time to design and build a summer home on Long Lake, NY using the frame from an old post and beam barn. He and his dad carefully dismantled the barn and numbered each post and beam to be able to rebuild it at Long Lake. It was the joy of his life to drive to Long Lake with the family and friends for a weekend of boating and fishing.

His other interests included fishing in NY and Canada, fixing vehicles for resale, taking vacation trips, and of course frequent visits to his children and grandchildren who lived out of state. He joined the local Kawanis organization in 1961 and served as its president in 1965. He and Agnes also learned western square dancing and belonged to the Helderberg Twirlers for 25 years, where he served as president for two years. He loved to stay busy and could build or repair almost anything. During a visit to his son's first house, he decided to build them a cement patio and finished it in a single afternoon. He taught and encouraged his daughter to learn every aspect of construction, and together they built a house for Karen in Kentucky. In 2019, after a bit of coaxing, Quintin wrote a wonderful book about his life and his adventures, which his family is eternally grateful to have. 

Quintin is survived by his loving family which includes his wife of 67 years Agnes Hall Weaver; son William Douglas Weaver (and wife Mindy) of McKinney TX; daughter Karen Sue Weaver (and Michael Eldridge) of Buffalo KY; grandchildren Michael Weaver (and wife Carolina) and Mallory Weaver (and fiancé Niels Heidner); brother Douglas Weaver; sisters Virginia Weaver Nowacki and Sharron Weaver Pesto; sister-in-law Phyllis Weaver; and his many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his brother Winfield Weaver and his brother-in-laws Michael Nowacki and Richard Pesto.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Quintin Weaver at the Reilly & Son funeral home in Voorheesville on Sunday, November 26 from 12 to 2 PM, with a graveside service immediately following at the New Scotland Cemetery on New Scotland South Road (CR-308) for those who wish to attend.
