Albany - Paul J. "Mickey" Dott, 80, of Albany and Dania Beach, FL died Sunday, December 7, 2014. Born in Albany, Mickey was the son of the late Edward R. and Charlotte Miller Dott. A Veteran of the United States Army, he was stationed in Germany from 1957 to 1959. He was employed for more than 50 years as a mechanic at Dott's Garage in Colonie. Mickey was an avid golfer, acheiving eight holes in one and when he wasn't on the golf couse, the golf channel was on TV. He was a 40 year member of Pinehaven Country Club in Guilderland. An enthusiastic world traveler, he enjoyed following the PGA tour. Many times he attended the Hawaiian Open before travelling on to New Zealand and then Australia. He was a well known area bowler, the 1969 indivual winner of the Albany City Bowling League National Division and was a member of the Dott's Garage City League National Division Champions. Mickey was always active and in any 24 hour period could be found golfing in the morning, swimming at the Victorian Pool in Saratoga, in his beloved reserved seat in the Clubhouse at the Saratoga Race Course and then in the evening at the Fonda Speedway. Survivors include his siblings, Virginia Birdsall (late Joseph) of Colonie, Edward J. Dott (late Margaret) of Colonie, Emily M. Dott of Dania Beach, FL, Thomas J. Dott (Terry) of Colonie, Frances Peterson (late Robert) of Colonie and Leo A. Dott (Nancy) of Colonie and Hallandale, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Madeline Sweeney, Ralph J. Dott, Sr. and Lois Prusinski. Paul's funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumite Rd., Loudonville. Friends may also call at the church, prior to the mass from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. For those who wish, memorial contributions to St. Pius X School, 75 Upper Loudon Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 would be appreciated.
