Obituary of Robert R. Kelley
Robert Kelley, of Clifton Park , NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26th, 2024. 97 years old, (but well into his 98th year, as he would always say), Bob lived a very full life. After attending Christian Brothers Academy, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during WWII overseas until the end of the war. Upon his arrival home, he married his wife, Rose, and together they had two boys, Michael and Robert.
Bob began his career in the automobile sales business, quickly earning the respect of his peers and customers, often seeing decades of return business….if you bought a car from Bob, more times than not, a friend or family member would do the same….he was fair, honest, and an overall pleasure to be around.
You would also be hard-pressed to go anywhere around town without someone knowing him. He was quick with a joke, and even though his family heard them hundreds of times, they would still get a chuckle….it was all in the delivery. An avid Mets, NY Giants, and Knicks fan, he mainly wanted to see the game played the way it was supposed to be played, which was not always the case with his teams of choice. Bob watched Jeopardy religiously every night. He also had a daily call to play Wordle with his son, Robert, every morning up until his passing…a grand total of 901 games, even accomplishing the “unicorn” of getting the word in ONE! (Wordle called it “genius”, we call it “lucky”….he would not let the family forget this.)
Bob made it a point to generously donate to countless local and national charities, and could be counted on by family and friends to help however he could in times of need.
Bob is pre-deceased by his loving wife, Rose (Comard). He is survived by his two sons, Michael Kelley (Kandis) and Robert Kelley (Mary-Anne), grandsons Geoffrey Kelley (Alicia) and Brian Kelley (Danielle), and great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Christopher, and Madeline, all of whom were the “light of his life”.
Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved him dearly….it was impossible not to. He will always hold a place in the hearts of all who knew him.
