I met Joe when he was in Middle School and selling candy bars door-to-door for a fund-raiser. It was for one of the many activities in which he was involved. He was so charismatic and entertaining, I bought the remainder of the box. It was a tradition that he would visit when he had that last three or four of anything and stop by. Of course I bought the remainder of the box - it was Joe. When I returned to the work force after raising my children, Joe was there to give me advice and guidance. He was so generous with his time and knowledge. Sue and Bob, my heart aches for you and your family. What a contribution he made in such a short amount of time. We will miss him so very much.

Joe and I were law school buddies. His storytelling, ability to forge a conversation with just about anybody, generosity, and larger than life attitude just can’t be topped. I will miss him dearly.

We know that Joe will be missed by so many family, friends, and colleagues as he had an extraordinary way to be sure everyone in his environment was acknowledged, loved and cared for.
Joe was so loving and gracious to our family when my nephew, his good friend Tyler King, left our world as we know it. I can only hope they are united in the kingdom and are at peace.
Please know you are all in the hearts and prayers of so many people as you read this. We live in Texas and are praying for you, the family, and all that are impacted by his passing.

Joe would instantly accept people as friends. His smile would "light up the room" and his laugh was genuine and contagious. He was a true reflection of his warm, loving family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob, Sue, Kristen and Paul as they naviate this difficult time. We are all very saddened by the news.

I love this photo of Joe. At our wedding, he chose to spend the first hour playing with our flower girls, making them feel safe and happy. That’s what kind of person he was. A great guy.

Joe, so many thoughts: I had the pleasure of first meeting Joe in 2008 when he was at Hinman and I was at Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York. He made so many things possible for those who need it most through his work with LASNNY. He was one of those people that could not say "No" and this trait was not taken for granted. He always knew how to make you smile and laugh. The guy you would do anything for because he would do the same. I was lucky to keep in contact with Joe when he moved to Long Beach and then to Scottdale through our mutual work with Moon Valley. I appreciate it even more so today. Meeting Joe was not by chance but it was meant to be and I am forever grateful. He is a lasting imprint in my life and so many others. The sky has welcomed the brightest shining star looking down on all of us. Miss you, still hard to believe...

When I served as the Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern, New York, I had the pleasure of knowing Joe as a volunteer and friend of Legal Aid. Joe helped people in need of legal representation find solutions to urgent, civil legal problems. He was a great asset to our pro bono program. Even better, he was enthusiastic and fun to work with. We were sad when he relocated away from Albany, but glad that his life was full when he moved out west. We are so sorry to learn of his passing. My deepest sympathy to you all Lillian Moy

My wife and I would like to express our deepest condolences to Joe's family and friends.
Joe and I lived together in Albany for a year in 2016. He's been a close friend since then. I celebrated 10 years of sobriety on Monday July 1st. Joe was one of the first people I texted that morning. I could not have done it without him. I was lucky enough to experience his kindness, generosity, humor, and his one of a kind jambalaya first hand.
The last time we saw Joe in person was at our wedding last summer. Joe went and picked up an extradordinary amount of food after everything had ended and he, Katy, and I hung out on the back patio at the Fort William Henry before we turned in for the night. We're so happy that we had extra time with him, laughing and catching up. We will miss him very much and we're so grateful our path's crossed.
