Margaret was a dear friend from childhood. We first met when my family moved from Colorado to Voorheesville in the early 1970s just before Christmas. We both attended New Scotland Presbyterian Church and participated in the Christmas pageant as, I believe, “the donkeys, shaggy and brown.” Later, we both joined the Jr. Choir, where we had great difficulty refraining from giggling during services. Oh, Margaret, I will miss your sense of humor and of adventure.

My favorite thing Margaret and I used to do was walk the creek near her house, It was a place to admire the polllywogs, shiny pebbles, bleeding hearts, and ferns, and to share stories and giggles while the cool, muddy water washed over our feet.

Dear Friends,
The April 1 funeral service for Margaret was videorecorded for those who couldn't attend. The service was full of many friends and family from different parts of Margaret's life. Beautiful music was performed by friends, and several people gave personal remembrances of Margaret.
You can see the recording here, courtesy of Pastor Holly Cameron, who was also close to Margaret:
"I am sharing the direct link, but please know that anyone can find the video by going to the New Scotland Presbyterian Church Channel on YouTube, so they don’t have to have the exact link. Here is the link for the service:

I got to know Margaret on our daily elementary school bus ride so many years ago. It was a long ride, and as the only girls in our grade, we would chat. I will remember her as that young, talented and thoughtful girl. My condolences to her family.

I am deeply saddened at the passing of Margaret.
I have fond memories of Margaret as a little girl surrounded by her beloved cat and kittens.
Margaret travelled with her Dad, Mervyn, to visit our Grandmother, Annie, my Dad, her Uncle Orville and family. It was a long drive from Altamount to Sutton.
One thing we had to have when they visited was butter tarts and we also sent them home with a large supply which apparently was consumed on the way home.
Margaret’s love of animals was demonstrated in her
rescuing countless cats and her beloved dog Drifter.
Margaret taught me to recognize the call of the American TreeFrog when she was visiting us. I always associate the call with Margaret.
Margaret always signed off our telephone calls with I love you.
My sincere condolences to Robert and family.

The obituary for dear Margaret beautifully reflects the gifts she shared with all of us.
She loved being part of beautiful little communities over the years, including Cowan and Lobel front end (where I met her in '93); Ruth Dufault native plants gardening; Cap Rep scenic art; her Hampshire College friends; New Scotland Presbyterian church and its visit to Ghana; PEO; Welsh classes; her brother Robert and his family; and cousins.
And she drew all of her gifts together as a loving and effective caregiver for her brilliant and adoring parents, Mary and Mervyn Ewart.
I want to hold onto these memories of my friend Margaret--- brave and sensitive, disciplined and artistic, blunt and colorful. I miss her terribly and treasure her memory.

I am so sorry to hear this awful news. I have known Margaret since kindergarten, and always admired her for her unwavering fight for what she believed in. My deepest condolences to her family.
