Obituary of Rose Marie Magliocca
Rose Marie Magliocca was called to the home of the lord on March 11, 2024 where she was greeted by her entire family.
Born January 27, 1928 to the late Bernardino and Donata (Margarita) Magliocca. Rose was predeceased by her sisters Nancy Santandrea (Louis); Angela (Lee) Tobler (Richard), Grace Magliocca, and her nephew, Mark Tobler.
Rose is survived by her five nephews, Louis P. Santandrea (Linda), Robert P. Santandrea (Betty Rau), Bernard T. Santandrea (Laurie), Richard Tobler (Carol), Andrew Tobler (Dawn Halley).
Rose’s greatest joy was seeing her great nephew, Philip Santandrea (Katherine) and great nieces, Rachel Geissler (Jonathan), Tara Mae Tobler (Ben Carlson), Lee Anne Tobler and Maeve Tobler, sharing stories about family dinners and holidays around the table in the home she was born in.
Rose was a 1946 graduate of Roesselville School and the first in her family to go to college. She was a 1950 graduate of the College of St. Rose with a bachelor’s degree in Science.
Rose worked her entire career with Albany Medical Center, retiring after 34 years as a supervisor of the special Chemistry laboratory.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church and Christ Our Light Church. Rose served her Church as a catechism teacher, Eucharistic minister, and a member of the rosary altar society. She belonged to Albany Medical Center auxiliary, volunteering until she became the caretaker for her sister Grace.
Among the highlights in her life were the trips to Europe with her sister Grace especially to Bernalda to visit the Magliocca, Margarita and Castano families. Her last trip was to Ireland for the wedding of Dawn Halley and her nephew Andy Tobler.
Rose was in a bowling league with family and went on many bowling trips throughout the country. She also traveled with her sister Grace along with Sweet Adelines to many competitions.
Rose loved to sew, crochet and needlework. The family has many of her great works to cherish.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Liz, Barbara, Juanita, Mychele, Brenda, Maryada and Flo who took such great care of Rose during her last two years.
Rose’s funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville. A calling hour will precede the mass from 10 - 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.
