Obituary of William David Gordon
Colonie - William D. Gordon, 81 of Colonie NY passed away on January 26th 2024 at home after a long illness. William grew up in Ithica NY and was a graduate of Ithica High School. He went on to graduate from Cornell University in 1966, where he earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering. After college William pursued his career of 36 years at General Electric, working in turbine and steam engines. After retirement he continued with General Electric on a consulting basis.
William was a proud antique car owner and restorer; he was a long-time member of the Adirondack Ford model A club and a modern western square dancer for close to fifty years. He had many other hobbies such as camping, hiking, taking walks, and riding his bicycle. William was an active member of the Old First Congregational Church of Bennington Vermont and enjoyed countless day trips and other memorable travel with his wife Carol.
William is survived by his loving wife Carol A. Wade- Gordon. William is also survived by his daughter Alicia Gordon, grandsons Zachary and Joshua Ethridge, sister Janet M. Gordon, niece Jennifer Gordon (Tom), nephew Eben Gordon (Keara), great niece Jess Zier and great nephews Miles and Emory Gordon. He also left behind his beloved cat Jerry and many friends. He was predeceased by his father William B. Gordon, mother Mary Gordon (Mason) and brother Paul J. Gordon
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie and may also visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.
