Jerry was a wonderful big brother. As kids we would build forts and have snowball fights. We would run through the neighborhood together for trick-or-treat. and to play with other kids. As we got older, we shared a paper route and were caddies at Colonie Country Club. We sang together in the high school choir, the Kings Men's choir, and at church. Jerry loved music and played the trombone in high school and in a band after graduation.
However, there were times when Jerry was mischievous. There are two specific incidents that the two of us laughed about all these years. One time when our parents were away from home shopping, we were having a pillow fight. I got a good hit in, so Jerry chased me. I ran out the front door during winter with no shoes or coat on. The quickest way to escape! Jerry locked the front door and ran through the house and locked the back door. I was banging on a window to let me in, and Jerry was in the warm house laughing! Obviously, he eventually let me inside. The other situation was when we were playing darts that had metal points. Our target was hung on a tree trunk. We each took our turn throwing. Before I went to the tree to pick up the darts off the ground, I asked Jerry if he had any darts left to throw. He said, "No." To my surprise as I was gathering the darts, he threw one more dart. What a shock!
Jerry really didn't tell many jokes, but he had a good sense of humor. During conversations, he often would interject funny comments. He loved sports, and we had many discussions about various teams and players.
Love you brother. You will be greatly missed.
