Obituary of Jeffrey A. Barnes
Latham – Jeffrey Andrew Barnes passed away suddenly on Saturday morning March 12, 2022.
He was a loving, kind and faithful son, friend, co-worker and most of all parishioner. A lifelong member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Colonie, he also attended All Saints Episcopal Church in Round lake with his father.
He could be considered the St. Michaelite mascot! Wherever St. Michael’s went on their many thousands of miles of car trips, we called them safaris, Jeff could always be found in the group as a toddler with his parents right on up to adult helper. Whenever something was going on at church, Jeff was there. Early. When he was a part of something, you could count on him through to the very end.
He was born June 26, 1959, the son of Bruce and Marilyn Barnes, attended Colonie Central schools, graduated and began working for the Town of Colonie as a custodian for the next almost 43 years, most recently at The Crossings Town Park.
Predeceased by his mother and father, close friend Diane Harris, and his feline companions Tom and Jerry. He is survived by a sister, Sabrina residing in Florida and brother Hugh in Albany. A special thank you to the Colonie Ambulance crew and EMT who tried so valiantly to keep him with us and Patrolman Dan who offered so much support.
A mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church with Fr. Peter Schellhaus officiating, 49 Killean Park on Sunday March 20th at 2 pm with a reception to follow. Bring good memories to share!
