Obituary of Leona A. Tripp

Colonie – Leona Tripp, age 97, passed away quietly late in the day on February 15, 2022.  She was born in Passaic, NJ on March 18, 1924, the youngest child of Mary E. and John P. VanDerVolgen.  She grew up on Undine St. in Colonie /. West Albany and attended the Roessleville Schools.  In 1945 she married Robert J. Tripp, a WWII veteran.  They had two sons, Robert Tripp (deceased) and William Tripp.  She was predeceased by her husband Robert; her son Robert II (Bobby); her four brothers, Howard, William (Bud), Charles and John; and her sister Marguerite.

            Leona is survived by her son William of Johnsonville; her grandchildren, Liam and Faolain Bobersky and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews.

            A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 49 Killean Park, Colonie.  For those who wish, memorial donations to Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 would be appreciated.
