Obituary of Mark E. Smith

Voorheesville - Mark Eric Smith of Voorheesville, NY died quietly in his family home on January 14, 2022 after a very brief battle with cancer. Mark was an extraordinary musician and played many stringed instruments, for many years playing live with his band Three Quarter North and releasing three CDs.  Mark grew up in Voorheesville and graduated from Cornell University with a BA in Journalism. He worked for the New York State Police Department for 35 years as a dispatcher and more recently in IT Security. He planned to retire this month and enjoy traveling and playing and writing music.  Mark had a great sense of humor and loved to draw cartoons.  

Mark is predeceased by his mother and father, Audrey and Doug Smith, and his brother Craig Smith. Mark is survived by his Aunts: Lynn Sutton, Beverly Meade, Shirley Schenmeyer, Patricia Sweetser, and Lynda Smith Kingston and his uncle Wayne Smith. He was much beloved and very close to his cousins and other family members. Please enjoy some music in his honor. 

Services will be held at Reilly and Son Funeral Home in Voorheesville Friday, January 21, 2022 from 4 – 7 pm with a funeral service at the funeral home Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 10 am.
