Obituary of William J. Lasch

Slingerlands – William J. Lasch, Jr., 89, died Thursday, November 25, 2021 at his home in Slingerlands. Born in Albany, Bill was the son of the late William J., Sr. and Kathleen Doyle Lasch. He lived in Voorheesville from 1967 until two years ago, when he moved to Slingerlands. William was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He then worked for Tobin Packing Co. in Colonie for 32 years, followed by SUNY Albany until his retirement in 1996. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, spending winters in Largo, FL after his retirement and especially gathering with friends at JD’s in Indian Rocks Beach, FL. William was the husband of the late Marie Maginn Lasch; father of Paul Lasch (Susan) of East Aurora, NY, Patricia Akers of Altamont, Susan Lasch (David Haack) of Colonie and Joseph Lasch (Katherine) of Delmar; brother of the late John Emmett and Frank Lasch; grandfather of Keenan and Finnegan Lasch, Andrea and Jada Akers and Emily and Allison Lasch and the late Hailey Akers; and brother-in-law of Sean Maginn of Glenville. William’s memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. Matthew’s Church, Mountainview St., Voorheesville. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the church from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the mass.
