Obituary of Jacob H. Herzog, III
Please share a memory of Jacob to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jake Herzog, III passed away peacefully at home Thursday, February 25, at age 54. He had experienced health problems for several years, and his death was not COVID related.
He graduated from Voorheesville Central High School (VCHS) in 1984, and attended Rochester Institute of Technology. He worked in commercial film processing labs in Albany, and Norwalk, CT until this type of work diminished due to digital technology, and he returned home to New Scotland. One of his passions was sports, specifically the Miami Dolphins who he enthusiastically followed through wins and losses. In his youth he played Guilderland Pop Warner football and at VCHS he played football, basketball and baseball. For a time, he also competed in the New England Junior Enduro motorcycle program and continued to enjoy motorcycling alone and with friends until his passing. Spring and summer were his favorite seasons because he could mow the lawns with no shirt, help with haying, take the dogs for walks in the fields and play golf. He became a wizard in the family vegetable garden, annually nurturing the finest tomatoes, peppers, and more vegetables than the family could possibly eat.
Jake is survived by his parents, Jacob H. Herzog, Jr. and Arlene (Carr) Herzog, a brother Edward (Sarah) Herzog, and sister Lynn (Tom) Bragan, niece Elena Bragan, and nephew Lucas Bragan, his aunts Madelon Herzog and Mary (Scott) Berkman, and cousins Ken (Patty) and Erick (Julie Hervieux) Miller, Scott Herzog, Stephen (Lynn) Longtin, Keith (Nalanie) Longtin, Deborah Longtin, Kathleen (Steve) Frisbee, Karen (Steve) Umbrell, Ellen (Geoff)Zweig, and Kristen (Steve) Bankuti.
He was predeceased by his uncle Scott Herzog, and his aunts Patricia Longtin and Margaret Frederickson.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
