Obituary of Jean C. Thomas

Voorheesville - Jean C. Thomas, 86, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Our Lady of Mercy Life Center.  Born on March 5, 1931 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Leslie C. and Clara (Cox) Sherman.  Jean was predeceased by her first husband, William MacDonald and her husband, Nelson C. Thomas.

     She was affectionately known as “Mrs. T.”  by the many children she cared for during her 30+ years of child care in her home.  She was member of St. Matthew’s Church and the Voorheesville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, where she was coordinator of the Veteran’s Christmas.  Jean was dedicated to donating to veterans.

    Survivors include two sons, Gary MacDonald (Michelle) and Clark Thomas (Sandy); four daughters, Cynthia Kiel (the late David), Laurie Silvano, Cheryl Harrington (John) and Maureen Banuls (Ray); 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Funeral 8:30 Saturday from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.  Calling hours will be Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the funeral home.  Jean’s family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at the Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, especially Richard, Sue and the rest of the staff on the Fatima Unit.  For those who wish, memorial contributions to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, 31 Voorheesville Ave., Voorheesville, NY 12186 would be appreciated.
