GUILDERLAND - Jeffry A. Jackson, 64, passed away on the evening of March 22, 2017 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Guilderland, he was the son of the late Leland H. and Jean LaGrange Jackson. Jeff attended school in Voorheesville and then HVCC. His lifelong career in government service included Director of Real Property Tax Services for Rensselaer County, assessor for the town of Cambridge, the town of Poestenkill and the City of Rensselaer. Jeff's favorite activity while living in East Greenbush was watching his sons play sports and serving as Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 76. In his later years he found a passion for golf and playing with his grandsons who affectionately called him "Bear." Those who were fortunate to have known Jeff experienced a more profound life.
Jeff is survived by his sons, Brian (Jennette) Jackson of Guilderland and Ian (Miosotis) Jackson of Scituate, MA.; his cherished grandsons, Brian Jr. and Bennett; his favorite sister, Karen (William) Simmons; brothers , William (Martha) Jackson, Kenneth (Gale) Jackson, and Leland (Sharon) Jackson, sisters-in-law Vala Jackson and Christine Barber; mother-in-law, Monica Barber; many nieces and nephews; his beloved companion, Jane Leahey Reynolds, and former spouse, Deborah Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Reilly & Son Funeral home, Voorheesville. Burial will be in Albany Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 - 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at www.themmrf.org . Another way to remember Jeff would be to give the gift of blood at your next local blood drive or the American Red Cross Center on Everett Rd., Albany.
