Obituary of Charles R. Carson

Charles Richard Carson, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 28th at the Teresian House.
Born in Oneida, NY on June 12, 1923, he was the son of Thomas and Irene (Kaiser) Carson. After graduating from Oneida High School in 1941,
Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Navy’s Submarine service. He fought aboard the U.S.S. Redfish in WWII Pacific Theater from 1943-46.
After the war, he attended St. Bonaventure College and Brooklyn Law School. He passed the NYS Bar exam in 1954.
Charlie fell in love with Anne Buell, which began their 62 yearlong love story. They were married on January 29, 1955 in Oneida NY, celebrating the births of their four children between 1956 and 1960.
In 1961 Charlie began work as an assistant to the NYS Attorney General and they moved to Voorheesville.
Charlie enjoyed a 50-plus year membership in the New Scotland Kiwanis Club, over 30 years golfing in the Possum Trot league and membership in the Voorheesville American Legion. Charlie and Anne were big fans of Skip Parsons Dixieland Jazz band.
Charlie leaves Anne, whom he loved and adored more every day. He was Dad to Jann Carson (Kathleen Hagberg) and Patricia (John) Sheie of Portland, OR; Susan (Nilo) Balmaceda and Mark Carson of Voorheesville, NY;
He was Papa to Carlie (Matt) Foley, Mark Casolo, Matthew Casolo, Anny (Josh) Sheie Osbrink, and Quinn Carson-Hagberg; Great-Papa to Liam, Carson, and Jayden Foley. He is also survived by his brothers, George and Don, and many nieces and nephews.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents, brothers Bill and Bob, and sister Rosemary.
Calling hours will be at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville on Tuesday, January 3, from 4-7pm. Funeral Mass at St. Matthews, Voorheesville on Wednesday, January 4, 10am followed by Burial Service at Saratoga National Cemetery, 12:30pm.
Those wishing to remember Charlie may donate to the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave Extension, Albany, NY 12203. His family is so appreciative of the care its staff members provided Charlie in his last days.
