Please share a memory of Corinne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Voorheesville - Corinne (Ricci) Cossac, born September 21, 1931, left to be with her Lord and Savior on December 23, 2016 after a brief illness. Corinne passed away quietly at home surrounded by her loved ones. A lifelong resident of Voorheesville, her youth was spent working in Ricci's Market, the family’s grocery store, in beautiful downtown Voorheesville. She graduated from Voorheesville High School and co- wrote the alma mater which is still sung to this day. She attended Syracuse University where she studied fine arts and political science. Corinne was employed in many places and vocations, a few of which include managing the cafeteria at Bethlehem Middle School, making pizzas at Smitty’s in Voorheesville and she also served proudly for many years as the New Scotland Town Clerk. She was also endlessly involved in the community as a girl scout troop leader, an original member of the New Scotland Business and Professional Women’s Organization, the New Scotland Women’s Republican Club, and as American Legion Auxiliary member and President, just to name a few. For years, she would march in the Memorial Day Parade representing one of her roles. Throughout her life she cooked for thousands of people, either catering a wedding, anniversary party, private event, or at a school or boy scout function. Everyone loved Corinne’s home cooking. She was also an extremely well read lady. She was known to pull out the encyclopedia, if there wasn’t a book on hand. Until recent years, she attended Mountainview Evangelical Free Church, where she worshiped the Lord, and put her faith in Him. She lived her faith in many ways. Corinne’s home always had an door open for young people in need of a place to feel safe. Most importantly she was the strength and glue that held her family together. She tirelessly worked to support her four girls and provided the most nurturing home filled with food, song and laughter. Corinne is predeceased by her parents , Charles and Rose Ricci, survived by her loving brother, Michael Ricci of Voorheesville, her daughters Roz (Dennis) Robinson of Voorheesville, Annie (Doug) Brill of Voorheesville, Carol (Joe) Corriveau of Asheville, NC and MaryGrace Cossac of Voorheesville. She is also survived by her grandsons Matthew (Nicole) Robinson, Timothy Robinson, Jacob Brill, Daniel Brill and great grandson Timothy Joseph Robinson, as well as loved nephews and nieces. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sue Miner, Corinne’s faithful caregiver of many years. There will be a celebration of Corinne’s life at the Voorheesville American Legion on Thursday January 5 from 5:30 to 8:00. Family, friends and community are welcome. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Community Hospice.
