Obituary of Lisa Marie Burns

Burns, Lisa Marie Colonie - Lisa Marie Burns, age 49, was called to join our Lord on August 17, 2016. Devoted mother and wife, loving daughter and sister, Lisa had courageously and selflessly battled cancer for the past year. Devoutly faithful, Lisa joins in heaven her beloved father, Paul Felt, who pre-deceased her on July 3, 2015. Lisa was a lifelong resident of the Albany area. Born on November 20, 1966, she graduated from South Colonie High School in 1984. A year later she started her career in state service, working at the NYS Office of General Services where she remained for nearly 30 years until 2015. In 1994, Lisa married Shawn Burns and was soon blessed with the arrival of her two loving daughters, McKenzie and Carly. Family was always the centerpiece of Lisa’s life and she leaves behind wonderful memories of a life spent with her cherished parents, husband, brothers, children, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many loving and caring friends. Quick with a smile, Lisa positively touched many lives and will be missed by all. Lisa is survived by her devoted mother, Paula Felt; husband of 22 years, Shawn; her daughters, McKenzie and Carly; brothers Ronald (Denise), Anthony (Alison), Stephen (Peg), Michael (Moira), and 10 nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, on Sunday, August 21st from 3 pm -7 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 10 am with a burial to take place at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie, immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association (abta.org), Christ Our Light Catholic Church, and in honor of Lisa’s love and affection for her dog (Tonka) and cats, the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (mohawkhumane.org). The family would like to thank the staff at Albany Medical Center, Hackensack Medical, Dana Farber and the Community Hospice of Albany County.
