Charles,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Charlie hired me at Sewanhaka High School in 1984. He was a great mentor and will be missed.

Charlie influenced my choice of a music career as a student, and later on as a nearby professional colleague as well. He offered me guidance and encouragement as a HS clarinet student to apply to his alma mater, the Manhattan School of Music, which I attended. During my college years, he was an influence and mentor in my becoming a club date musician. Later on, we were nearby colleagues as school music teachers. I'Il always remember him as a kind, knowledgeable, and giving teacher and friend. I am so sad to hear of his passing, and send my regards to his family. I am sending a donation to the Ronald McDonald House of LI, in his memory.

Charles,
I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope you remember that I worked with your Dad at
Sewanhaka until his retirement. I used to come over to your house on Elizabeth Street in Floral Park on a regular basis. I changed my name in 1976. Your Dad appears to have had a very musically fulfilled life.

Charlie was president of the Nassau Music Educators Association (NMEA) in the mid-70s, and as his 1st VP, I worked very closely with him. I have fond memories of driving to meetings together and having some great talks along the way. Charlie was a mentor and a really good friend and role model. And, of course, a great musician who played in many of our Long Island bands. I didn't get to see Charlie too frequently once he moved to the Albany area, but I shall still miss him and am saddened by his passing. We've lost a really good guy!

The Guerin Family and Jan,
I am so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing and your loss. Charlie was such a wonder man, I will miss him dearly. Charlie and I had a running joke that he was training to compete for the US Gymnastics Olympic team, his event would be the Iron Cross and the Parallel Bars. We joked about this so often that earlier this month, he told me he would have to withdraw from the 2016 Olympics and was shooting for 2020!!
Charlie was awesome!! He will always be in my heart!!

Charlie was a beloved and most talented member of the Memorial Concert Band of Colonie.
He will be dearly missed by all who shared the stage with him (including me as member of the sax section of the Memorial Band) and will be remembered by many area musicians for his wonderful musicianship and kind, generous spirit.
Rest in peace dear friend.
