Obituary of Nelson D. McClintock

Voorheesville - Nelson D. McClintock, 84, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Delmar. Nelson was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II in the Pacific Operation, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and occupied Japan on the USS Tennessee. He worked at many area dairies, including Yeomans, Meadowdale and Three Farms and worked at Delmar Lumber for many years. Later in life he started his own business as a union painting contractor. Nelson was a member of the Voorheesville American Legion Post 1493 for 58 years. He was a past member of the Voorheesville Rod & Gun Club, Berne Order of Masons, Voorheesville Fire Department Golf League, Men's Bowling League and avid Yankee's fan. In addition, he enjoyed woodworking and cabinet making. Nelson was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Marion VanBeusichem; son, Nelson Dean McClintock, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Tomasello; brothers, Floyd, Sydney, Kenneth and David; and sisters, Shirley Hogan and Kathleen Burnett. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Klein and Karen McClintock; sons, John (Jacqueline) and Jeffrey (Roberta Ashe); grandchildren, Gina Klein, Jeremy (Alison) and Kevin McClintock, Anthony Tomasello, Ian Bushie and Jason St. Pierre; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Ogden. Friends are invited to visit with Nelson's family Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville. Committal services will be held at 10:00 o'clock Wednesday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial contributions to the VAVS Holiday Fund, Stratton VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208 would be appreciated.
