Voorheesville - William F. "Bill" Hotaling, 69, passed away at St. Peter's Hospital on Monday, May 2, 2011, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Bill was a lifelong resident of the Village of Voorheesville and graduated from Voorheesville High School in 1959. Bill followed in his father's footsteps and served as the Superintendent of Public Works in Voorheesville for 29 years. He was a dedicated member of the Voorheesville Fire Department for 40 years and volunteered his time to numerous community organizations.
Bill was always known as a friend. When anyone in the community needed help he wouldn't wait to be asked, he would be there to lend a helping hand. Bill could always be heard in the stands cheering at his children's or grandchildren's sporting events. There wasn't a referee in the Capital District that didn't know his name! Friends and family knew Bill best for his quick wit and his big heart. He could always make us laugh and see the humor in any situation. He will truly be missed.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pat Hotaling and their three children and their families; Brett and Liz Hotaling and their children, Logan and Julia; Paige Parker and her children, PJ and Noah; and Chad and Casey Hotaling and their children, Ryann and William. Bill is also survived by brothers, Hank and Jim Hotaling; sisters, Hazel Kurkowski, Edith Zeh and Bonnie Mosier; and sister-in-law, Sandy Filkins and her husband, Judson.
