Obituary of Patricia Anne Smith

East Greenbush - Patricia Smith of The Eddy Alzheimer's Center at Hawthorne Ridge, passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 in Hospice Care at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in NYC, she was the daughter of the late Lottie & Thomas Mullan. A resident of South Miami, Florida since 1973, she is predeceased by her son, Kevin Smith, and her husbands, Kenneth Smith and Berlin (Leo) Gifford. Pat worked for oral surgeons Dr. Stillman and Dr. Lanka in Schenectady until 1973, and continued as receptionist and assistant with Dr. Ashley and Dr. Melzer in Coral Gables, Florida until 1996. Survivors include her brother, Thomas (Bette) Mullan of Nalcrest, Florida and Saratoga Springs; her nieces, Colleen (Jeffrey) Becktoft of Wilton, Kathy (Brad) Pickert of Berthoud, Colorado, Bonnie (George) Spohn of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Marilyn (William) Briggs of Glenville, Lenora (Alynn) Evans of Gloversville, Betsy (Gary) Bates of Voorheesville; her nephews, Thomas Mullan of Wilton, Daniel (Doranne) Mullan of Saratoga Springs, and John (Kim) Gifford of Alexandria, Virginia; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Gifford of Gloversville. She will always be remembered for her love of animals and volunteered at the Humane Society of Greater Miami. Pat was very concerned about the welfare of animals. She enjoyed swimming and long walks, and taking care of other's cats. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, 1241 State St., Schenectady.
